With over 20 years experience running watersports and team building activities for schools and colleges, we pride ourselves in providing unforgettable experiences for all ages. We like to make our sessions bespoke to your group ensuring that it matches with your students abilities and interests. Our fully qualified instructors prioritise safety while encouraging confidence, team work and personal growth, making each activity fun and unforgettable!
From adrenaline pumping coasteering to team challenges on the shore, we provide a variety of activities designed to engage all students.
Whether you are planning a one off activity date or visiting North Devon for a residential, we'll work closely with your school to put together unforgettable activities for you and your students.

Watersports:

Coasteering - Swim, scramble and jump your way around our beautiful coastline. Exploring hidden gullies and coves - it's natures playground. All of the jumps are optional but this is a great activity to push yourself, overcome fear while working at your own speed and help motivate others. Learning outcomes include: Self confidence, life skills, inter-team relationship.

Party SUP - Teams will paddle on our giant stand up paddleboards to a nearby secluded beach where they will attempt to make a fire using flint and steel to enjoy some yummy treats to fuel the games and paddle back. They will also participate in team challenges such as: races, gladiator's style last man standing and many more. We also have the option to include some smaller coasteering jumps as part of this activity. Learning outcomes include: Inter-team relationships, communication, effective participation, problem solving.

Stand Up Paddleboarding - Discover the coves by paddling your way around to caves and over to a beautiful beach. Team and individual games will be played to help students feel more relaxed on the boards and help out with paddling techniques. Students will be doubled up on boards to ensure the whole group make it to the beach together. We teach safe paddleboarding and enjoy sharing some rescue techniques with people to ensure they are confident when out of the water in the future. Learning outcomes include: Communication, teamwork, effective participation, confidence building, inter-team relationships.

Surfing - Discover one of the great local North Devon surf beaches. Students will be transported to Woolacombe where they will have lessons with qualified surf instructors. They will be taught about flags and water safety, paddling and standing techniques. Learning outcomes include: Effective participation, self confidence.
Land-based:

Search and Recover - To get the students working as a team they will work in groups to orientate themselves around the cove. Working together the team will need to communicate, de-code, decipher maps, briefs and riddles. Learning outcomes include: Self management, effective participation, teamwork, problem solving.

Recon Mission - A task driven activity where teams complete challenges at different locations before being able to move to the next. The central navigation point of this activity will be around the remains of an Iron age hill fort. Learning outcomes include: Inter-team relationships - Communication - Effective participation - Problem solving - Creative thinking - Self-management - Reflective learning - Life skills.

If you are coming on a residential and looking for some accommodation nearby, here are some recommendations:
The North Devon Resort in Ilfracombe has a wide range of accommodation suitable for schools, scouts or other large groups. Options range from Double Rooms, Studios, 2 and 3 Bedroom Apartments, and 3 Bed Sea View Residences. Sea view and easy access options available.
The North Devon Resort will not only help arrange accommodation for your trip but also cater a bespoke menu for you. Their onsite facilities include indoor pool and sauna, soft play, gaming, restaurant, café, plus there’s free onsite parking and parking suitable for coaches.
The Ocean Backpackers is a self catering hostel based down near Ilfracombe harbour, so is just a stones throw away from our Larkstone watersports centre location. It can host groups of up to 38 and also offer a separate self-catering apartment for smaller groups of up to 12. They have a kitchen, lounge and dining room area along with a variety of bedrooms. They offer a range of budget accommodation, from dormitories to family rooms, some with private shower rooms.
Schools, colleges, sports clubs and activity groups find them a convenient and comfortable base to go out and explore.
