Activities

Operating in North Devon, Active Escape offers a variety of exciting activities. Now based at Watermouth Cove we have the use of a beautiful private coastline, locally known as little Thailand - you'll see why when you get here.  We also have the use of various other locations and will always take you to the safest and best working spots of the day to ensure you have an unforgettable experience.

Our activities include

Coasteering Take on natures very own assault course of rocks, caves and sea. Really push yourself out of your comfort zone as you jump into the impact zone.  You'll be guided along our stretch of private coastline and as it's private it means no queing behind other groups and waiting for jumps.  The route is perfect for starting small and finishing big (for those that want to) with everything in between.  Scramble over rocks and jump into sea filled gullies with the added excitment of caves and occasioanly seeing the local dolphins and seals.  This activity is adrenaline filled fun from start to finish - you wont be able to stop talking about it.

Stand Up Paddleboarding If you've never done this before or are a seasoned pro, our location is perfect for learning or showing off your skills.  After your tuition and local tips you'll be free to explore the cove around to the stunning broadsands beach.  At high tide you'll be able to paddle through the caves and at low tide float in the gullies.  There are individual boards and family boards available on this taster hire session. It really is the best way to enjoy the coastline and nature you might even find yourself addicted - we have people coming back year after year and multiple times on their holiday.

Giant Party SUP  If you have a group of friends or family and want a guided adventure that caters for different levels of ability and energy levels.  Then the Party SUP is for you.  We have a collection of giant boards that can take 8-10 people on each.  You'll be guided around the cove, into gullies for some rock jumping (or watching the rock jumpers if it's not for you).  Then onto a beach to light a fire from flint and steel to cook marshmallows over.  At different stages your experienced guide will set fun challenges and games for your group to do on the boards.  This is a great activity for groups with mixed levels of ability - if someone just wants to chill and doesn't fancy jumping in then they can just wait and watch from the board but if you want more just let your instructor know and they'll find some more jumps or sort more games for you.

Coastal Rafting This activity is much the same as the Giant Party SUP activity, only Coastal Rafting is great for those more unsure of their ability in the sea and would like a more leisurely paddle around the cove.  You'll still paddle into gullies to challenge yourself at rock jumping before paddling onto a beach to light your beach fire and cook a tasty treat.  This will give you the energy for the guides exciting challenges, fun games and the paddle back to base.

Adventure Challenge activity is assault course meets orienteering, meets paddleboarding.  You need brains aswell as brawn, as you have to find clues by following maps whilst going around an assault course then paddling over to a secluded beach cove on paddle boards.  So if you want to make the paddleboaring experience more challenging with a different element thrown in, then this the activity for you.

Surf Rafting  Ok this is a bit of a crazy activity and can only operate out on main season due to the beaches being so full in the holidays.  You and the guide will paddle our surf rafts out through the surf and then surf back in.  Sound easy!  well its a full on team effort to get out through the swell with waves crashing down on you.  Then after a breather you'll catch a wave back it.  This is great fun, high adreniline and very physical.

Surfing  Well when in Devon and by the sea it would be rude not to.  Either book in for a lesson or simple hire the kit.  Surfing is a classic

Splatgun Paintball  Based at our sister company in somerse, Spatgun paintball is with out doubt the ultimate kids birthday party going.  Aimed at ages 8-14yrs.  Splatgun paintball has all the thrill of a really adult paintball, same games, same kit except the guns.  the guns as spring loaded instead of gas powered.  So you get the fun of the game with out the bruises.  The kids a always buzzing.

All activities are based in North Devon, but we use a variety of locations including Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Croyde. Our HQ is based at Watermouth Cove near Croyde, this is a great central location for the area as Woolacombe bay and Ilfracombe are within easy reach. North Devon is an idyllic location for these activities, even though we are within easy reach of holiday hot-spots we have sourced some great secluded areas around the coastline!
